Slain cop was the sole-bread earner to a family of Six including an old-aged father

The videos of the wailing daughter of Mohammed Sultan, who was killed in a suspected Militant attack in Bandipora have brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

On Friday evening, suspected Militants fired at cops in the Bandipora district, injuring two cops. They succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital. Among the slain was Mohammad Sultan (37), a resident of the Dangerpora area in Sopore.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, the locals in Sopore’s Dangerpora said that Sultan was the sole read earner to his family, which consists of four young children, a wife and an ailing father.

Remembering him as a kind and generous man, the locals said that he never troubled anyone in the area or outside. “Barely months ago, his wife gave birth to twin babies,” the local said.

“We want the bloodshed in the valley to stop and his family to be taken care of, one the local said, adding that, “he was a driver in the Police.” Sultan has joined Jammu Kashmir Police as a driver in 2009.

“Initially he was posted in South Kashmir, then he was transferred to Bandipora and the to Kupwara. Now he was happy after hectic efforts by the family that he was transferred back to family,” a local said.

He said that Sultan was happy that he was transferred back to Bandipora now where he could take care of his ailing father and visit him quite often.

Another slain cop was identified as Mohammad Sultan and constable Fayaz Ahmad, who was a part of the escort of Station House Officer Bandipora.
