The Jammu Kashmir Police in Sopore claimed to have resolced a grenade throwing Case and arrested two over groung workers’ of Lashkar e Taiba Militant outfit in the case.
In a press statement, the Police said that on 12-12-2020 at 18:05 hours unknown persons threw a Hand Grenade towards Police Post Bus Stand which missed the intended target and exploded outside gate of the Police Post, resulting into the injuries of 03 civilians.
Regarding the incident Case, FIR No.349/2020 was registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation set into the motion.
During the course of the investigation 02 suspects, namely Mohd Asif Najar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, a resident of Noor Bagh Sopore and Sahil Rashid Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat Resident of Green Town Sopore were apprehended and during questioning, they confessed that they are working for LeT outfit as overground workers and had thrown the Grenade on Police Post Bus Stand on the directions of LeT Militants.
The duo also confessed that they were desirous to join the Militant ranks but before that a Hand Grenade was handed over to them with the directions to throw it on any security forces/ Police establishments in Sopore area, which they lastly threw on Police Post Bus Stand.
