Srinagar Police Install Hoardings Ahead of 15 August

In the runup to 15 August, the 75th independence day of India, several arrangements are being made in the Kashmir valley which includes a tightened security across the valley.

On Friday, the Jammu Kashmir Police in Srinagar installed hoardings congratulating people on the ocassion of he  Independence Day on main roads of Srinagar city.

15 August in 1947, marked the day when India got its freedom, ending a 200-year British rule in the subcontinent.

The Independence Day celebrations are being marked by tightened security as the forces are resorting to technical surveillance including the use of drones to monitor the situation.

A random search of vehicles and checking and frisking of people is being conducted at several places across the valley, especially around the venues of the August 15 functions.

The Jammu Kashmir administration has announced temporary relaxation on the number of people permitted to attend any indoor and outdoor gatherings on August 15 only on account of Independence Day celebrations and directed district magistrates to ensure Covid appropriate behaviour is followed.
