The Kashmir valley is undergoing an intense heat wave which is likely to continue for the next few days.
According to Kashmir Weather, a website which independently monitors weather in Kashmir, Srinagar on Friday recorded temperature of 35.0°C, making it the hottest June day in 18 years.
This matches the previous record set on 03 June 2018, when the temperature also reached 35.0°C.
The temperature is 5.8°C above normal, as per Kashmir weather.
“On June 24, 2005, the maximum temperature reached 36.5°C. The highest temperature ever recorded in June occurred on June 29, 1978, with a reading of 37.8°C,” the website reported.
