Two Primary Schools in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district are facing staff shortage due to which students admitted in the schools are suffering.

Locals from Frislana Pahalgam area told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that just two teachers have been deputed to Govt Primary School Banpora Frislana to teach students from primary department to class 6.

They said that people in the area are financially weak and cannot afford to send their kids to private schools. Over 50 students are admitted in the school but there are just two teachers and they are unable to manage the school.

“We have brought our genuine demand into notice of higher ups several times to no avail,” locals added.

Similarly, locals from Check-e-Dadoo in Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag said that a school in their area was established about 18 years ago but it has been good for nothing.

According to them, a single female teacher has been posted at the school and she alone has to teach all students from primary to class 6.

They said their wards would have to walk for 3 kilometers through orchards on a daily basis for an alternate government school where adequate staff is available.

A local Irshad Ahmad said that going through orchards is very risky for minors because of the presence of stray dogs and there are chances of wild animals roaming around as the forested area is nearby.

“We have brought this issue to the notice of higher ups several times but our repeated pleas have not been considered yet,” they said.

Locals from both areas have once again sought intervention of DC Anantnag and Chief Education officer in this regard—(KNO)
