Youth Shot by Forces for not stopping at Check Post in Kulgam

August 29 A youth identified as Mudasir Ahmed has been shot by Government Forces outside their camp at Behbagh camp in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that that soldiers from 34 RR of Indian Army fired upon a biker allegedly after he did not stop at the Behibagh check point. The youth has been identified the youth as Mudasir Ahmed Thokar, a resident of Kadder Kulgam. Officials confirmed the incident to The Kashmiriyat and said that Mudasir was was driving at a very high speed and didn’t stop at two check points. Mudasir has been shifted to Srinagar Hospital for treatment.

August 15 The news of the Army major being awarded a Shaurya Chakra (Gallantry Award) came as a shocker to many, however to the families of the slain Shopian youth gunned down on 27 January, it was not an 'unexpected' event. The Indian Army Major was the in-charge of 44 Battalion of Rashtriya Rifles posted in Shopian district of South Kashmir. August 11 As many as fourteen civilians have been killed in the firing of Government Forces in Shopian district alone. As per figures available to The Kashmiriyat Shopian District has been the worst hit, the district witnessed four civilian killings on a single day on March 4 at Pehnoo area. On 27 January, two civilians namely Javaid Ahmed and Suhail Ahmed were killed by government forces when army fired on a group of protesters at Ganopora area in Shopian.
