Security forces widen search in J&K’s Anantnag to flush out terrorists

The anti-terror operation in the forest area of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir entered the third day on Monday as security forces widened the search area to flush out terrorists, officials said. Three persons, including two soldiers, were killed in the exchange of fire with terrorists on Saturday following which a massive manhunt has been launched in the Ahlan Gagarmandu forest area of Anantnag district to eliminate the ultras. The operation to hunt down the ultras continued for the third day despite the challenging topography. The Village Defense Guard who was injured in intial exchange of fire in Chochru Gala heights with militants succumbed here in a hospital, officials said. Officials told GNS that the VDG who was critically injured after brief gunfight broke out between militants and security this morning succumbed in a hospital. He was been identified as Mohammad Shareef (48) son of Abdul Rehman resident of Lower Ponar, Basantgarh Udhampur. More reinforcement has already reached to the spot and whole area has been cordoned off, the official said. Three students die as a boat capsizes in Srinagar

In a tragedy, three students have been declared dead as the boat capsized in central Kashmir's Srinagar district on Tuesday morning. An official told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that a boat drowned along with some children who were crossing the river Jehlum from Gandbal to Batwara in central Kashmir's Srinagar district. However,  with the swift action of river police, all the students were rescued and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, sources informed news agency Kashmir Scroll that three of them were declared dead on arrival. A man was arrested for extorting money from people through criminal intimidation in Pulwama district, police said on Tuesday. JCB, Auto-Rickshaw drivers lose lives in two separate mishaps

A JCB driver and an auto-rickshaw driver lost lives in two separate accidents in Srinagar, Jammu Kashmir. As per details, a JCB driver was killed after coming under a rubble of landslide in Khanmoh area of Srinagar district on Monday late night. The body was recovered after a rescue operation was started immediately after the incident. He was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad. Similarly, in another incident, an auto rickshaw driver lost his life after being hit by a vehicle in the Sonawar area of Srinagar district. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, a resident of Pampore. Meanwhile, the Police have taken cognizance of both incidents and investigation has been set into motion.
