Thousands participate in Ashura processions taken out in south Kashmir

Thousands of people on Tuesday participated in the annual Ashura processions in south Kashmir.

The main Muharram procession in south Kashmir was taken out from the Devsar area of Kulgam district to commemorate the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.

Molvi Mohammad Maqbool, the chief cleric here, in his speech highlighted the Waqa e Karbala and the sacrifices of 72 companions of Imam Hussain(AS).

The procession began at the local Imambara Shahoo and culminated at the local graveyard, where tributes were paid to martyrs of Karbala. “It is important that the sacrifices and the mission of Imam e Hussain are remembered forever. His mission did not end that day nor will it end, till there the power is in the hands of those who do not exploit others,” Molvi Maqbool said.

Mohammed Amin Bhat, Senior Congress leader also participated in Muharram Procession and said this day will be remembered forever worldwide for the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.

The SSP of Kulgam district GV Sandeep also visited the Imambara.

Muharram processions were also taken out in Dooru and Chittergul areas of Anantnag along with several other parts of south Kashmir.
