Three drug peddlers arrested in north Kashmir

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police on Friday have arrested three notorious drug peddlers in Sopore and recovered contraband/psychotropic substance from their possession.

In a statement, the police spokesperson said that Officers from Police Post Watergam at a checkpoint established near petrol pump Watergam Rafiabad intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05D-6444 with three persons on board.

They have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Lone, Muhammad Iqbal Lone both the residents of Naidhal Rafiabad and Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of Muhammad Akbar Bhat resident of Hanga Handwara.

During checking, officers were able to recover 48 capsules and 94 tablets of banned drug & 3 grams of brown sugar from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 02/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation has been initiated.
