Three held in Anantnag with contraband substances, cases registered: Police

Police have registered two separate cases under the NDPS Act after recovering contraband substances during patrolling and naka checking in Anantnag district.

Police said a team from Police Station Anantnag apprehended one individual, identified as Mohammed. Altaf Nanda a resident of Nandapora Khanabal, during patrolling at Hanji Danter near the sericulture nursery.

During his personal search, officials told The Kashmiriyat, they recovered around 110 grams of charas-like substance from his possession.

Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 183/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation initiated.

In another case, the DSB Section of Anantnag Police arrested two persons on September 15, 2025, at Janglatmandi near Bilal Masjid. The accused have been identified as Mohammed Imran Khan, a resident of Chanderkote Ramban, and Mohd. Latif, resident of Godhan Nardi Bala Jammu.

Police recovered 4.44 grams of brown sugar-like substance from their possession, including 2.58 grams from Imran Khan and 1.86 grams from Mohd. Latif. A case under FIR No. 181/2025 U/S 8/21-29 NDPS Act has been registered in this regard.

Police said further investigation in both cases is underway.
