Three persons booked under PSA for ‘Anti-National’ activities

The Jammu Kashmir Police has booked three persons under the Public Safety Act for Anti-India activities in the north Kashmir district.

An official said that three persons identified as Mohammed  Ashraf Mir son of Assadullah Mir of Wussan Pattan, Mohammed Yaseen Bhat son of Ghulam Mohiuddin of Tapper Pattan and Wasid Ashraf Sofi son of Mohammed Ashraf Sofi of Watergam Wagoora have been booked the Public Safety Act.

“The trio was booked after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority,” the official said.

The booked persons have been lodged in District Jail Udhampur, Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu & District Jail Kathua respectively.

Under the Public Safety Act (PSA), one can be booked without charges for a time extending upto two years.

Pertinently Public Safety Act is among the list of the laws that remained unchanged in Jammu Kashmir following the removal of Article 370 in Aug ’19 when most of the local laws were either removed or changed.
