Teenagers Aabiroo and Azrah, both 19, and also the childhood friends have been enthralling audiences and winning accolades lately by singing duet Kashmiri and Urdu songs in events across Kashmir.
Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the duo currently graduating from North Kashmir’s Baramulla College, said that they have been friends since the 9th grade and have been singing ever since, though individually.
Now the partnership with a stage name “Sufi Sisters”, the Hijab donning girls seem to catch the attention all across Kashmir.
One of the performers, Abiroo, said that she has many times participated in competitions and won awards even for Naats at various platforms before. Abiroo, always wanted to be a vocalist and has extensive support on her family’s end to pursue her dreams.

The due claims that they have lunged and grabbed any opportunity they could at musical festivals and talent shows across Valley and more to work and move closer to their goal.
Like Abiroo, her duet partner Azrah Qayoom has made a similar effort to furnish her goal in singing. She has always stood for her friend and partner even when her family financial conditions too were not good.
The duo said that they are self-learned, without any professional guidance.
“We would individually sing and take part in competitions in schools and its only since 2020 that we partnered for competitions together. This year we have been called for performances in festivals,” Azrah said.
The duo recently have also won a talent hunt show for their duet performance.
