Two militants were killed in a gunfight at Pazalpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, an army soldier Brijesh Kumar who was injured earlier in the initial gunfire succumbed in military hospital here at 92 base Badamibagh, Srinagar.
Sources said that two militant were killed in the encounter which broke out after army’s 22 RR, SOG and CRPF 92 bn launched a cordon and search operation in Pazalpora area of Sopore in the wee hours on Friday morning.
Officials said that the exchange of firing stopped and the searches has been launched to recover the bodies.The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained, they said.
Meanwhile, in wake of the killing of the killing of the two militants, authorities have closed all colleges and higher secondary schools in Baramulla and Sopore while all educational institutions in Rafiabad to remain closed today.
