Two Militants Killed in Bijbehara Encounter- “Were Responsible for Killing Army man”: Says IGP

Two Militants have been killed during an encounter in the Semthan area of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, where internet services have been suspended along with two other districts of South Kashmir

Earlier, an official had told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday the 3 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the Semthan area of Bijbehara in Kashmir n Saturday afternoon

During the cordon, the hiding militants opened fire upon forces triggering an encounter, during which the families of the Militants were brought to the site to persuade them to surrender.

A Police official said that two militants have been killed so far during the gunfight, where minor clashes have erupted near the site of the encounter.

One house has also been damaged at the site of the encounter.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police has said that the two slain Militants were responsible for the killing of Army jawan in Bijbehara in South Kashmir.

A territorial Army man identified as Mohamed Saleem Akhoon was shot dead by gunmen near his house in the BIjbehara area on Friday.

In Shopian Kashmir, three Militants have been killed during another encounter from whose possession, a pistol, an AK 47 Rifle was recovered.

One Militant was killed late on Saturday, while the two others trapped in a small shed in the middle of orchards was were killed around 7 AM on Sunday, he said, adding, “the Militants have not been identified yet.”

Though the Police have not officially disclosed their identity as of yet, Sources identified the slain as Asif Ahmed Ganie son of Bashir Ahmed Ganie, resident of Chitragam Kalan in Shopian, Ubaid Ahmed resident of Adashpora Shopian and Faisal Ahmed Ganie of Chitragam Kalan in Shopian. All are said to be affiliates of Al Badr.

Internet services have been suspended in the Shopian, Anantnag, and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir.

The Kashmiriyat reported on Saturday that the family of the 14-year-old boy Faisal Ahmed Ganie of Chitragam Shopian was brought to the site of the encounter to persuade him to surrender.

Faisal, a class 9th student, who is a lonely brother to four sisters had gone missing a few days ago from his house in the Shopian district.
