United States (US) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency announced on Monday that foreign students must leave the US if their school’s lectures this fall are being taught completely online or transfer to another school that is having in-person classes in order to legally remain in the US.
Students who remain in the US, if their classes were fully transferred online for the fall, could potentially face deportation according to the ICE.
ICE stated that it would ‘not allow’ student visa holders to stay in the US if their classes are fully online for the winter session.
The ICE statements are referred to students holding the F-1 and M-1 visas, which are for academic and vocational students.
These new announcements by the ICE do not apply to students taking partial or all classes in person, as long as their university certifies these instructions.
On July 6, US President Donald Trump tweeted, “SCHOOLS MUST OPEN IN THE FALL!!!buy kamagra gold online https://www.adentalcare.com/wp-content/themes/medicare/languages/en/kamagra-gold.html no prescription ”
Although schools/universities reopening is a decision that the US President has limited power over, the US university administration has decided to allow only 40 percent of undergraduates on campus in order to take precautions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the university administration has made it clear that all lectures will be taught online, regardless of where students live. Students residing on a university campus would continue to take classes remotely from their dorm rooms.
