A Ukrainian woman, named Asiya, who converted to Islam and is the wife of Bilal Ahmed, a businessman from Mandurah Tral region of south Kashmir is worried about her family back in Ukraine amid the Ukraine-Russian war, ETV India reported.

Asiya’s name was Aliza before she met Bilal Ahmed at Goa in 2013 and fell in love.

While talking to ETV India, Asiya said that since the beginning of the war, she has been talking to her parents daily. Her relatives live in Harque and other cities. They had taken refuge in underground bunkers to avoid Russian bombing.

She sees scenes of the destruction and devastation of her homeland on TV. “The people of the country were fighting bravely, but they needed help. The aid can be given to them in the form of money, medicine or weapons,” Asiya added.

Asiya’s husband Bilal Ahmed says that his wife has been crying and not eating since the start of the war in Ukraine, because she is worried about her parents and the people of the country. She wants an end to this war.

Meanwhile, Asiya called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use his influence to persuade Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war.

She said that along with the United Nations, India should also pressurise Russia so that the war could end and the people of her country could breathe a sigh of relief and if timely steps were not taken then the war could hit other countries.
