In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, a man was arrested on Sunday (June 2) after he was found sleeping on the floor of a house he had entered to rob, India Today reported.

Police reported that the man, heavily intoxicated, fell asleep after turning on the air conditioner.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning in the Indiranagar area of Lucknow.

The house, belonging to Dr. Sunil Pandey who was away in Varanasi, was empty at the time. The man broke in through the front gate, entered the drawing room, switched on the air conditioner, and lay down on the floor, using a cushion for his head, and soon fell asleep.

Neighbors noticed the front gate open and contacted Dr. Pandey, who then informed the police as he was not in town. When the police arrived, they found the man sleeping soundly with the air conditioner running. A photo showed the man holding a mobile phone in his right hand while in deep sleep.

DCP North Zone R. Vijay Shankar stated that the man intended to steal but fell asleep due to heavy intoxication.

“He was heavily drunk and fell asleep, unable to wake up. Neighbors reported the situation, leading to his arrest,” the officer told India Today. The police indicated that further action would be taken.
