Even after the period of more than two years since the government higher secondary school Kilshay in Gurez was upgraded, the government has so far failed to fulfill the principal among 11 lecturer vacant posts thereby taking a heavy toll on the official work of the institutions.

An official document accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), revealed that the government higher secondary school Kilshay was upgraded in 2019, while around principal among 11 lecturer posts are still lying vacant in the institution.

Locals said that the institution was already headless for the past several years which speaks volumes about the functioning of government educational institutions in the remote area.

They said that the vacant post in the government-run school has adversely affected the administrative work in the institution.

“It seems that the school was upgraded by the government only on papers as the lecturer posts sanctioned for the school are still lying vacant, ” Mohammad Akram a local resident said, adding that the future of our children is being ruined with each passing day.

“If the government knew that they could not deploy the lecturers here, what compulsion did they have to upgrade this school,” Akram said.

“We are fed up now and no one listens to us. We have informed the concerned authorities many times but so far our voice is probably not reaching their officials,” Danish a local student told KNO over phone.

Despite repeated attempts officials at chief education office Bandipora did not respond to comment on the matter—(KNO)
