Video: On Eid, Residents hit streets in Kulgam area to protest dilapidated roads

Inhabitants of (Kralcheck) in Churat area of Devsar in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday staged a protest to express their resentment against the authorities over dilapidated road conditions in their locality.

The residents speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that a link road connecting their locality with the highway is dotted with potholes, giving a tough time to the commuters.

Ghulam Hassan Khan, a resident of Churath said that the roads have turned muddy and on the day of Eid the locals are confined to their houses. “It gets worse during bad weather as the roads are waterlogged due to lack of drainage system and people are to facing difficulties in walking,” he said.

They claimed that the road had not been repaired, and no macadimization has been done since decades, the locals said while blaming the authorities of being negligent towards the area.

Meanwhile, residents of the area appealed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam and other concerned department to macadamise the road on priority basis so that residents may have a sigh of relief.
