The tall claims made by the goverment of having brought ‘development’ into Kashmir fall flat on ground as many villages in the Anantnag district of south Kashmir are still deprived of electricity.

The residents of Watdoor Brinty in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, on Tuesday, held a protest demonstration against the failure of Power Development Department (PDD) for not providing them electricity in the last three years.

The residents blocked the road leading from Brinty to Imhoo and raised slogans against the Power Development Department (PDD), asking them to fullfill the demands of the villagers.

A local told The Kashmiriyat that the villagers have been suffering from acute power shortage since 3 years.

The protesters appealed to the Deputy Commisioner (DC) Anantnag to intervene into the issue and address their problem.
