The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has announced that there are no current plans to declare summer vacations for schools in the Kashmir valley due to the “pleasant” weather conditions.

Tasaduq Hussain, director DSEK, mentioned that there are no proposed changes to school timings, with temperatures at 32 degrees Celsius.

Speaking to the media, Hussain said that the government is keeping an eye on the situation and will make decisions if extreme weather occurs.

He highlighted the department’s aim to help students build resilience against challenging weather conditions to better prepare them for future difficulties.

He questioned the rationale behind declaring summer vacations in May, wondering what would be done in the hotter months of June and July.

These statements come amid a heatwave in the Kashmir valley experiencing higher-than-normal temperatures.
