The recently constructed clock tower in the main town of south Kashmir’s Shopian district has become one of the most visited sites for different reasons altogether.

Three watches were installed on the triangular tower in the south Kashmir township built at a cost of over 50 Lakhs, on the pattern of clock tower of Lal Chowk in the heart of the summer Capital, Srinagar, as per a report by All India Radio.

The 52-feet landmark has clocks installed at the lateral faces of the tower display which surprisingly display three different times at any point of time in the day, Locals told The Kashmiriyat.

As per the locals, the clocks worked fine for the first five days since they were installed in the month of May, but after that the clocks are most doubtful item located in the heart of the Shopian town.

“At 7 PM, only one of the clock shows the correct time, the other one rings to 8 13 PM and the last one to 12:01 AM. The difference in the timings is not confined to 7 PM, that is the scenario throughout the day,” a local shopkeeper said.

A Municipal council member from Shopian that the clocks will be fixed soon as they have developed a technical issue.

“The clocks work on GPS technology. A team of experts is going to visit the area on Friday and hopefully it will be fixed on that day,” Suhail Ahmed Malik, the Executive Officer of MC Shopian said.
