West Bengal tourist drowns while taking photos in Pahalgam

A 56-year-old tourist from West Bengal drowned in the Lidder River at Betab Valley, Pahalgam, while taking photographs.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that on on Thursday night, a tourist, identified as Devabrota Ghosh, son of Jagannath Ghosh from Hoolay, West Bengal, was immediately rescued and transported to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Pahalgam.

However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. His body is currently at the PHC.

Local police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
