Wild boar appears in Kulgam market, creates ruckus; Injures five

A wild boar created ruckus in the main market of the Kulgam town in south Kashmir, injuring at least five persons.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning, a wild boar appeared in the market and attacked at least five people who had to be rushed to the hospital.

They said that the animal appeared in the market in the afternoon around 1:10 P.M. and followed people into a lane. “People ran for security, however, he bit at least four people,” they said.

Hospital official confirmed to The Kashmiriyat that at leas four people with pig bites had been brought to the District Hospital in Kulgam.

They identified the injured as Ziyan Mushtaq Mir, Abdul Aziz Mir, Irfan Yusuf, Faizan Bhat and Qasim Mushtaq.

Family of Ziyan, who is a minor said that Ziyan was walking on the road when the wild boar attacked him from behind and hit him on his head. “The animal later dragged Ziyan for several meters when the locals spotted him and chased away the animal before rescuing the minor boy. Ziyan has sustained injuries in his head,” his family told The Kashmiriyat.

Meanwhile, Police along with wild life officials have rushed to the main market of Kulgam to catch the animal.
