With the onset of winter in the Kashmir valley, a routine series of power cuts has irked lives. The administration claims that the power cuts have been reduced to a great degree, however, the claim falls flat on ground.

Incessant power cuts have perturbed lives in various areas of district Baramulla for the last several days as they residents face immense difficulties.

Aghast locals are dissatisfied with the power department as the power cuts have made it difficult for the people to perform their daily chores.

The residents of Haritar, Tarzoo and its adjoining areas told The Kashmiriyat that due to poor performance of the Power Development Department (PDD), unceasing power cuts have heavily affected lives in the valley but the concerned department seems non-serious about ensuring adequate power supply.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, Haritar residents said, “The prolonged power cuts do not only harm business people but also the education of students.”

Locals claimed that no curtailment schedule has been framed by the PDD. “The PDD snaps the power supply as per their will,” they said.

The residents say that they pay their electricity bills on time. “Despite paying our bills on time, we are not being provided electricity as per schedule,” they told The Kashmiriyat.

They urged the concerned department to fix the power system and ensure adequate power supply so they do not face any more difficulties during the severe winters.
