Won’t allow the drug peddlers to rise and extend their activities : Sopore Police

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in North Kashmir’s Rafiabad in Sopore destroyed bung cultivation, sought the support of every section of society to eradicate drug menace and protect the youth.

A senior police official told the news agency – Kashmir News Service (KNS), that they won’t allow the drug peddlers to rise and extend their activities, adding “If they do not shun the trade the police won’t spare them unpunished”.

Drug abuse is one of the most dangerous and threatening challenges before humanity. “Neither police nor society alone can face this menacing challenge which is destroying our younger generation, he said.

The official hailed the role of parents, elders and civil society for coming forward for preventive measures, saying families are approaching police and seeking PSAs for their children involved in drug addiction.

Meanwhile, in a recent action, a police team headed by the station house officer (SHO) police station Dangiwacha Shahnawaz Ahmed accompanied by the I/C police post Watergam Ishfaq Ahmed and officials from the revenue and exise departments carried out a bung destruction drive on a field measuring about 10 Kanals of land at Watergam area in the jurisdiction of Police district Sopore.(KNS)
