An FIR has been lodged against Yati Narasinghanand, a controversial priest from Uttar Pradesh, for making derogatory remarks about Prophet Mohammed during a public speech in Ghaziabad on September 29, 2024.
The case was registered on October 3, after a video of the priest’s offensive comments circulated on social media.
In his speech, delivered at Hindi Bhawan in Lohia Nagar, Narasinghanand suggested burning effigies of Prophet Mohammed during Dussehra celebrations, a statement that quickly attracted widespread condemnation.
The priest, notorious for his inflammatory rhetoric, has been at the center of multiple legal actions for hate speech, including a previous arrest for similar offenses in Haridwar.
His divisive speeches often target Islam and its Prophet, and he has made controversial claims about public figures like former President Abdul Kalam.
Narasinghanand has repeatedly called for the establishment of an “Akhand Hindu Rashtra” (undivided Hindu nation), citing historical figures like Savarkar and Shivaji as inspirations.
He has gone so far as to claim that Hindutva should extend globally, even stating that Makkah and the Kaaba house a hidden Shiv temple—remarks that have sparked outrage.
Last year, amid tensions in Israel, he controversially expressed his intention to send 1,000 supporters to aid Israel in its conflict, further adding to his divisive legacy.
While the FIR has been filed, no arrests have been made as of yet.
