The Bhartiya Janta Party’s state unit of Jammu Kashmir has written to SD Singh,the inspector General (IG) of Security wing of Jammu Kashmir demanding immediate security for Sheikh Imran, the former Deputy mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
In this letter written to the IG Security, the BJP has demanded security cover for Sheikh Imran who has constantly denied having any links with the Right-Wing group, which has been in power in the Centre since 2014.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the former Deputy Mayor is in close coordination with the BJP and has been since he became the deputy mayor of Srinagar, though he has constantly refuted the allegation and called them “baseless.”
The Srinagar Municipal council in absence of any other political activity happening in the state, is witnessing a massive one as various members have moved a ‘No Confidence Motion’ against him for the second time in the last six months.
Junaid Azim Matoo, the Mayor of Srinagar on his twitter handle wrote that the same is being done on the behest of Bhartiya Janta Party, immediately after the National Conference and the Congress too said they would join the No Confidence Motion against the Mayor, the Congress and NC however said they have no intentions to dislodge him.
The BJP state spokesperson, Altaf Thakur said majority of corporators are not happy with Matoo and they want former deputy mayor Sheikh Imran as the SMC mayor, In December last year, The Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested the Sheikh Imran , in connection with JK Bank loan fraud case.
Post this, Sheikh Imran, was removed as deputy mayor after a no-confidence motion was passed against him.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the BJP writing to the IG Security demanded a security cover for the ex deputy mayor as his life is threatened at the hands of ‘Anti National Elements’, adding that the ‘Political leader’ was arrested post the abrogation of Articles 35A and 370 and his security was withdrawn post that.
