Kashmir Custodial Killing- Police Says Rizwan Tried to “Run Away”, File FIR against the Slain Teacher

After the angushing incident of custodial killing of a school teacher, Rizwan Ahmed, the Jammu Kashmir Police on Monday filed FIR under RPC section for “escape or attempts to escape from custody”.

The Jammu Kashmir Police had earlier requested for a magisterial probe that has reportedly been initiated in Pulwama district of South Kashmir and a report sought in four weeks.

Quoting Police, news reports said that a case under FIR number 09/2019 under section 224 RPC (A person escapes or attempts to escape from custody in which he is lawfully detained for any such offence) has been registered against Rizwan Pandit of Awantipora.

Rizwan was a school teacher and according to his family, he was detained two days back.

Rizwan was an MSc, a school Principal and a former guest lecturer at Islamic University of Science and Technology. As the news about his death spread, authorities closed the University to stop possible protests.

Clashes erupted in parts of Kashmir valley as soon as the news of custodial killing of Rizwan who was also a teacher spread among the Locals. Mobile internet services were also snapped in parts of the Kashmir valley.

The Former chief Ministers demanded action against the cops accused of committing the crime as Police requested for magisterial probe into the incident.
