A known professor of Geography posted in Government Degree College in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District is all set to quit his teaching job and join Mainstream Politics on 26 January on the eve of Indian Republic day.
Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that Dr. Abdul Bari who was recently booked for inciting violence in the college campus by the Jammu Kashmir Police is set to join Engineer Rasheed’s Awami Itehaad Party.
Dr. Bari has been recently in the news after he alleged that he was being harassed by Government Forces for expressing dissent against various atrocities including the killings of seven civilians in Sirnoo area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District.

He in his constant social messages has been raising concerns against the illegal encroachments and illegal mining in this South Kashmir district.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat over phone he said that he had also spoken against the establishment of an Army camp in the Redwani as education was badly impacted due to the establishment of this camp in the middle of the village, a school was also shut for many days.
Abdul Bari who is a Ph.D Scholar from Aligarh Muslim University while speaking to The Kashmiriyat confirmed that there are high chances of him joining mainstream as he has been constantly harassed by the Forces.
:I have been taken to jail several times for speaking against the atrocities against Kashmiri people,” he said, adding, “I will observe 26 January as a Black day and will resign on that day to tell the world that state is subjecting Kashmiris to brutality.”
