Pulwama Attack- Kashmiri B Tech Student Thrashed in Chandigarh For an Hour, Threatened to Leave City

Amid growing attacks on Kashmiris in various states of India in the aftermath of Deadly Pulwama attack which left at least 45 CRPF men dead, a Kashmiri student has been attacked by mobs in Chandigarh on Friday morning.

Mohammed Vikas Malik, a resident of Islamabad (anantnag) township in South Kashmir, who is pursuing Bachelors in Technology (B.Tech) from a college in Mohali  was rounded up by a mob and thrashed allegedly for more than an hour.

“I was late to the university in the morning, so i boarded an auto to reach the university which is very close by to my rented accommodation,” Vikas told The Kashmiriyat adding that in the auto he got a call from home.

He said that as soon as the fellow passengers in the auto heard him conversing in Kashmiri, they held him by his arms, took him off the auto and started assaulting him.

“I was forcibly taken through unknown lanes, streets and thrashed constantly for more than an hour.” He said the mob, post assaulting him for more than an hour, threw him down on a street in Kharad area in Chandigarh. “I kept thinking while blood was oozing from my body that it was the last day of my life.”

He was later rescued by a few locals and other Kashmiri students who helped his way to a nearby hospital. “After thorough check up, the doctors told me that my shoulder had been displaced.” The university was very helpful, he said, they took him to another doctor and also helped him with medicines.

The mob kept on repeating, ‘We know the residences of you all Kashmiris, we will kill you all, otherwise leave this place, we might have to be silent for sometime, but we will kill you at a right time,’ Vikas said.
