A graffiti asking people to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha polls has appeared on the shops shutters, walls and other open spaces in North Kashmir’s Langate township on Wednesday morning.
The graffiti asking people to boycott also reads, by Tehreek ul Mujahideen, a Militant outfit has appeared in nooks and corners of Langate township asking people to stay away from polls that will be held for North Kashmir’s Baramulla seat on April 11.
As the valley’s separatist leadership remains caged and summoned by NIA, the separatist leadership, for the first time, in many years, has not called for a shutdown on the election day. Also, the Leadership has not run any boycott campaign.
The National Investigating Agency of Indian has tightened noose around the separatist leadership. Prominent leaders including Shabir Shah, Nayeem Khan and Yasin Malik have been detained, while leaders including the Mirwaiz e Kashmir, Umar Farooq have been summoned by NIA to New Delhi.

The Militants have taken front and asked people to stay away from Polls. “They are just deceiving you, do not vote,” Zakir Musa, a top Militant commander had recently said in a audio clip widely circulated over the social media. Riyaz Naikoo, another top wanted commander has also asked people to boycott the polls.
In Turkwangam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian recently Militants attacked a bus on poll duty. Elections officials told The Kashmiriyat that the elections being held in three phases for the one seat of South Kashmir is being seen as crucial as South Kashmir remains on the boil since the Killing of Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016.
