Under the Chief Minister Dalit Empowerment Programme, the Telanaga government has announced that it shall provide financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the eligible Dalit beneficiaries.
The scheme, which is a rare initiative, is supposed to cover 100 families, each from all the 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana, with a budget of Rs. 1,200.
On Sunday, the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao chaired an all party meeting at Pragati Bhavan in order to finalise guidelines for the ‘Chief Minister Dalit Empowerment Programme’ with Daliy representatives for a marathon 11 hours.
“CM Dalit Empowerment Programme would further change the lives of Dalits for better,” said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government on Sunday.
It is said that the amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the selected Dalit beneficiaries. Various Dalit MPs, MLAs and senior leaders from other political parties, attended the meeting.
The CM emphasized on how the Dalits were marginalized all through the country, both socially and economically. And said that the atrocities must end now.
The CM said that the government intended to implement phase-wise action plan in order to do away with social and economic problems of the Dalit community.
“We have to prepare statistics about the SC lands in the state and stabilise them to get awareness. If need be, the state machinery should spend 10 to 15 days to compile statistics on SC lands in the State. They should keep ready the economic action plan. The government is ready to spend Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 Crore for the next three to four years on this. We have to take up united action plan on this,” said the CM.
