One militant has been killed in the ongoing encounter that broke out between militants and Government forces in Nowgar Chrar-e-Sharief area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday evening.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday evening Indian Army’s 53 RR, 181 Batallion of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a hunt in the area after receiving inputs about Militant movement in the area.
During this cordon, the hiding militants opened fire upon the forces triggering an encounter.

During the exchange of firing, a solider sustained injuries, who has been evacuated to army’s 92 base hospital Srinagar.
Later, one unidentified Militant was also killed during the encounter.
As per latest reports, no fresh firing has been heard at the site of the encounter, however massive searches are underway as more militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
Sources meanwhile told The Kashmiriyat that Mohammed Yusuf one of the oldest surviving Militants, popularly known as Yusuf Qantroo is trapped at the site of the encounter.
Known as the master of disguises, Yusuf mainly operates in Baramulla and Budgam Districts of the Kashmir valley. Yusuf, as per sources, has been active since more than a decade now.
