14-Year-Old Boy Drowns While Taking Bath in Ganderbal Despite Ban

A teenager boy drowned in the power canal in Hari Ganiwan area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday afternoon.

Bathing in Nallah e Sindh had been recently banned by the district administration in Ganderbal, as per an official order, issued the last month, after two boys drowned to death.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a 14-year-old boy identified as Asif Ahmad Kasana, son of Muhammad Lateef Kassana of HariGaniwan drowned while he was taking bath near the power canal in Nallah Sindh in the Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.

As soon as the news of the spread a rescue operation was launched by locals, SDRF and police to retrieve the body, a Police official said. “Efforts are on to retrieve the body,” the POlice official told The Kashmiriyat.

The rescue operation was going on when the report was filed.
