15-year-old boy allegedly stabbed by friends in Kupwara

A 15-year-old boy was attacked and stabbed by his friends in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

As per reports reaching The Kashmiriyat the incident took place on Sunday afternoon when a 15-year-old boy was attacked by his friends when they were taking bath at a rivulet (Kahimil) in the Gundmomin area of Trehgam area in north Kashmir.

The minor boy, Saqib Ahmed Lone was attacked with a knife after which he had to be rushed to Sub District Hospital in Kupwara in an injured action.

As per Police, the Jammu Kashmir Police has filed an FIR against the accused in Police Station Villigam Kupwara and further investigation has been started in the incident.

In May, at least seven incidents of stabbing have been reported. Police arrested a teenager (16) after he stabbed a 46-year-old man to death.

So far, Kashmir witnessed more than twelve incidents of stabbing in 2023.

Overall, crime rate has witnessed a rise of nearly 25% in the year 2021 against the year 2020 as per the data of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
