On Sunday, in the Akrabad area of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, a 16 year Dalit girl went missing after she left home in the afternoon to collect fodder for the cattle from the fields but till evening she didn’t return. After that, her family members started searching for her and she was found dead in a field.
Her family alleged she was raped, following which villagers pelted stones on police.
The police said it appears that she was strangled.
Villagers after hearing about the incident, pelted stones at a police party who were taking the body for post-mortem, the police said.

Inspector Pranendra Kumar was injured in the attack, police added.
On late Sunday night, Superintendent of Police Muniraj G told reporters that senior police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the villagers who then handed over the body to policemen.

He added that allegations that the victim was raped are being probed. He also said that post-mortem will reveal everything and everything will be clear.
