
At least two persons were injured in a firing incident in Surankote of Poonch district on Wednesday evening, officials said.
They told GNS that the incident took place at Hari Mohalla Iqbal Nagar Surankote during a meeting regarding a husband-wife dispute in the house of an advocate.
“During the course of meeting an advocate namely Matloob Qureshi son of Mohammad Ali resident of Daraba, Surankote (at present Jammu) fired two rounds with a pistol resulting in injuries to two persons”, they said.
Identifying the injured persons as Mushtaq Ahmed son of Alam Deen resident of Nakamanjhari, Mendhar and Wahied Anjum son of Araf Hussain resident of Daraba, Surankote, they said that one among the duo has sustained serious injuries in his right ankle.Both of them were rushed to SDH Surankote for treatment, they further said.
When contacted, DySP Surankote Tanveer Geelani told GNS that the accused person has been arrested besides the weapon (pistol) also seized by police. “A case has been registered in this regard for further proceedings”, the official added. (GNS)
