’20 Crore Muslims being targetted’: Jammu activists accuse BJP of targeting Muslims through Waqf Amendment Bill

Socio-political activists in Jammu have strongly criticized the BJP-led Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for rejecting all 44 amendments proposed by opposition MPs to the Waqf Amendment Bill.

They described the move as “a war against Indian Muslims” and accused the JPC of adopting an “undemocratic and dictatorial approach.”

At a press conference in Jammu, Shahid Saleem, chairman of the United Peace Alliance (UPA), claimed the amendments were rejected to facilitate the takeover of Waqf properties dedicated by Muslims for community welfare.

“Muslims in India are already facing systematic discrimination, reducing them to second-class citizens,” he alleged.

Other speakers argued that the decision undermines Article 26 of the Indian Constitution, which grants religious groups the right to manage their institutions.

“Allowing members of other religious communities to oversee Waqf affairs is a direct violation of constitutional rights,” they stated.

The speakers accused the BJP-RSS of altering the fundamental structure of the Constitution by weakening the Waqf Board. “This move is part of a larger agenda against India’s 20 crore Muslims, which threatens national unity and peace,” they warned, further alleging that the ruling party is using religious politics for electoral gains.

The press conference was attended by Safeer Chowdhary, Mir Shahid Saleem, Wali Mohammad Dar, Dr. Rajinder Thappa, Moulana Mudasir Jalali, Narinder Singh Khasa, and Yousuf Aijaz.
