Two militants were killed in the encounter that raged late on Sunday between government forces and militants in the Hassanpora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
An official said that two local militants have been killed during the gunfight that erupted after militants fired upon forces during a cordon and search operation.
“The operation that was jointly conducted by 01 RR, CRPF and police ended around 2 05 AM on Monday,” the official said.
Two pistols along with magazines have been recovered from the possession of the slain militants.
The official identified one of the slain as Imad Muzffar Wani (21), who was a resident of Arigam. Imad had went missing on 20 December 2021.
As per sources the second militant is Abdul Rashid Thokar (20) son of Mohammed Ashraf Thokar, a resident of Hasanpora Tabela.
Abdul Rashid had went missing on 05 December 2021.
One residential house belonging to late Gull Mohammed has been razed to the ground during the encounter.
