Locals told The Kashmiriyat that clashes erupted between government forces and Protesters in the main town in the afternoon. The troopers deployed in the area fired tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters. However the clashes were going on when this report was filed.

April 04 One person was killed and another was injured when a stone hit their vehicle on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, official sources said here on Wednesday. The injured were rushed to the hospital where one of them identified as Barak Bilal, (23) a resident of Uamania Colony, Sanant Nagar, Srinagar was declared brought dead. While a couple and their 3-year old child died while their 18-months old baby was injured in a road mishap at Letpora along Srinagar-Jammu highway on Wednesday wee hours. The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Nabi Dar (40), his wife Jawahara Begium (35), their son Nasir Dar (3) of Hatlungoo Sopore. The injured has been identified as Yasir Dar (18-months old).

"NBCC has received sanction from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, for the Construction of 14,460 bunkers in villages along the Indo-Pak Border in the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) amounting Rs 415.73 crore (approx)," the company said in a BSE filing. NBCC said it is already executing border fencing work on Indo-Pak & Indo-Bangla borders for the MHA. Shares of NBCC were trading at Rs 208.85 apiece, down 0.85 per cent, on BSE.

April 04 The Director General of Police on last Friday had announced that Hurriyat leaders will be allowed to go anywhere as they wish. But on Sunday Hurriyat leaders were again put under House arrest while Yasin malik was detained and lodged in Central Jail Srinagar. The Hurriyat has issued a call of 'Shopian Chalo' on Wednesday. April 04 In a strong indication that the shelf life of Kashmiri militants has plummeted, all the 13 militants killed by the security forces on Sunday had joined the militancy movement only about three-four months back. “Earlier the shelf life of a militant in Kashmir was between six and eight months which has further gone down now to about three to four months now," a top military official closely associated with the Kashmir counter-insurgency operations told a newspaper.
