Kangan Youth Critically Injured During Protests

April 02 A youth was injured on Monday after  Police chased protesters in Kangan near Main market Kangan district in Central Kashmir. Witnesses said that a youth namely Gowhar Ahmad Rather,was a part of group that had assembled near main market Kangan monday evening. According to initial reports, the injured youth was rushed to Kangan Sub-district hospital for initial treatment. Doctors , reportedly have referred the injured to SKIMS Soura hospital for advanced treatment. Medical Superident Kangan hospital told  “Gowhar had injury in the head so we had to refer him to SKIMS”. Police official said that police chased away the group of youth but no shots were fired. KU postpones all exams scheduled on April 3, 2018

“Mehbooba Mufti Still in Her Delhi Bungalow”

April 02 Former chief minister and opposition leader Omar Abdullah on Monday said that Mehbooba Mufti has accepted her irrelevance today by not being in region’s summer capital Srinagar despite prevailing tense situation. “It’s amazing how @MehboobaMufti has accepted her irrelevance in Kashmir today. More than 24 hours after 3 fierce encounters & numerous deaths she still hasn’t arrived back in Srinagar,” Omar wrote on Twitter. In another tweet, Omar wrote: “In fact Gov Vohra arrived in Srinagar first thing in the morning while @MehboobaMufti was happily ensconced in her plush Delhi bungalow.”

Aerial Firing in Kulgam, Hurriyat Calls for Shutdown tomorrow

April 02 A CRPF Personnel fired shots in the air to disperse protesters in Damhal Hanjipora area of Southern Kashmir's Kulgam District on Monday. The Protesters gathered outside of a Local Assembly member and tried to march towards his house, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. However the troopers deployed fired in the air to disperse the protesters. Meanwhile Separatist leadership has called for a shutdown on Tuesday to mourn the killings of Militants and civilians. The Hurriyat has also said that it will march to Shopian on Wednesday to express solidarity with the Shopian people. Rail services and Educational Institutes will also remain shut tomorrow as a precautionary measure.  

Aerial Firing on Protesters in Islamabad

April 02 Government Forces on Monday fired in the air to disperse stone throwing crowds near Khanabal - Pahalgam Chowk in Islamabad, South Kashmir. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that youth threw stones on troopers deployed in the area, who in return fired in the air to disperse the protesters. Forces upon fire inside hospital in Shopian Hospital, ‘Do not target them’: Shopian Doctors Request

April 02 The Government forces today indiscriminate firing upon protesters inside the district hospital in Shopian township after clashes erupted in the south Kashmir area. Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that after the funeral of the local militant, Zubair Ahmed Turray killed in an encounter, the forces fired tear smoke shells toward people. "Clashes spread to all nearby areas and the forces soon entered the hospital to retrieve the dead body of the slain militant Zubair Turray," they said. The youth present inside the hospital in large numbers did not allow them to take the body away and this led to massive arguments and soon there was firing all over, they said.
