Second Civilian Killed in Shopian

April 01 Second Civilian has been killed in Sugan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian District during the clashes in the area. The Civilian has been identified as Bilal Ahmed, a resident of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District. Earlier a civilian identified as Niyaaz Ahmad from Kachdoora Shopian has been shot dead. 7 Militants Killed in the Ongoing Shopian Enconter, Zeenat ul Islam Likely Killed

April 01 Seven Militants have been killed in the ongoing Shopian Encounters which may include Zeenat ul Islam. Two encounters are currently underway in Jammu Kashmir's Dragad and Kachdora villages of Shopian district. So far, one Militant has been killed while another arrested. Five Army personnel is injured in Shopian's Kachdoora, another injured in Dragad. The encounters started began late on Saturday night. Police and Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 3 RR, 34 RR, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are part of the operation at both the places. The DGP of Jammu Kashmir Police has confirmed that 7 Militants Bodies have been recovered from the encounter site which includes top commanders as well.

Intense clashes between protesters and government forces erupted near gunfight sites in south Kashmir’s Shopian district where two gunfights between militants and forces are underway Sunday. Gunfight raged at Dragad area of Sugan and Kachdora villages of Shopian, official sources said. Hundreds of protesters assembled and pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shelling and pellet firing at both Kachdora and Draged. Earlier army said that a militant has been killed at Draged village during the gunfight.

A joint team of the Army, J&K police and CRPF launched three separate operations on Saturday night after they received information about the presence of militants in Shopian and Islamabad.
