CASO Launched in Shopian Area, Clashes Erupt

March 31 (Image used for Representation) Jahangeer Ganie April 17 Massive Clashes erupted during a CASO launched in Keller area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. The Government forces laid down a Cordon and search operation in area Chowan Keller of South Kashmir's Shopian District on Tuesday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that 44RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF laid down the Search operation jointly. "The Operation was launched after troopers received a specific input about Militant movement in the area," Sources said. A Door to door search operation has been launched in the area. Militants Escape After Brief Exchange of Fire

April 17 (Image Used For Representation) Militants have managed to escape after a brief exchange of fire in Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. One Army Soldier was injured in the initial firing from Militants upon Government Forces. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the clashes are still going on and the Troopers in the area used aerial firing and Tear Smoke shells to disperse the protesters.

Clashes Erupt at the Encounter Site in Tral

April 17 Massive clashes erupted in Tral near the Encounter site in Seer Jageer of  Tral area in South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Local Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Scores of youth have hit the streets in Seer to disrupt the Anti Militancy Operation. The youth shouting Pro Islam, Pro Freedom and Pro Militancy slogans came out on the streets. The protesters were trying to march towards the encounter site, however the troops deployed in the area fired smoke shells to disperse the protesters. Heavy Firing was going on, two to three Militants are believed to be firing at Government Forces.

Encounter Starts in Tral

April 17 An Encounter started between militants & forces at Seer Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama District on Wednesday. Militants had earlier attacked army patrol of 42 RR at Seer village of south Kashmir's Tral sub-district, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. Immediately the troops cordoned off the area and the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter. As per initial reports available to The Kashmiriyat 2 to 3 militants are likely to be trapped. Meanwhile Massive Clashes have erupted in Tral town as the news of encounter reached there.

April 08 Militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) on Saturday denied its involvement in the killing of a man, whose headless body was recovered from north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Friday. The police had said LeT was behind the killing. “Mahmood Shah, the LeT chief, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of Manzoor Ahmad and attacks on women and termed the acts shameful and inhumane,” a spokesman of the outfit said in a statement. The police had said Bhat was abducted by LeT militants.

Father of Abdul Majid Mir, Ex MLA shangus passes away

April 08 Sonaullah Mir, The father of Abdul Majeed Mir ex MLA Shangus passed away on Sunday. Mir passed away in his native in South Kashmir's Achabal area after a brief illness. Hundreds of people offered funeral to the deceased and presented their condolences to the bereaved family. The Chahram of the deceased will be observed on 10th day of April (Tuesday) at their Residence in Achabal.

Train Services Resume in South Kashmir

April 08 Train service resumed on Sunday in south Kashmir after remaining suspended for two days for security reasons, following killing of a Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant in an encounter in Pulwama on April 6. However, the service was resumed in north Kashmir yesterday after remaining suspended on Friday following strike called by Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and traders against the civilian killings in Shopian and Ganderbal in security force action. The separatists had called for protests after Friday prayers against these killings. We have resumed train service in south Kashmir today, a senior railway official told. Pulwama, Shopian Shuts for the 8th Consecutive day

Aerial Firing on Protesters in Shopian

April 07 Jahangeer Ganie Government Forces on Saturday resorted to aerial firing to disperse protesters in Chitragam Kalan in South Kashmir's Shopian District. Local sources told The Kashmiriyat that there were two to three incidents of stone Throwing in the area today. During evening time the protesters gathered again and threw stones on RR Vehicles moving through the area, Sources said. "They fired in the air to disperse the crowds," Sources told The Vehicles.
