June 23 Nadeem Yusuf In April this year, the Jammu Kashmir High Court issued an order in the wake of damage to the state’s fragile environs for a ban to be imposed  on use of polythene bags in Jammu Kashmir. The Municipal Corporations and Government Officials have been conducting constant raids and seizing polythene in large quantities from towns and villages as well. However the unabated usage of polythene continues as the routine practise of targeting the small fish in front of the camera continues, while Big industrialists continue to have a free run. CASO launched in Quimoh

June 24 (IMAGE USED FOR REPRESENTATION) Mohammed Ashraf Ganie The Government Forces have locked all the entry and exit points to the Ashmuji area in Quimoh belt of South kashmir's Kulgam District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that troops from Indian Army's RR, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police following specific input about MIlitant movement in the area have launched a massive search operation in the area. This is the second cordon in the area since yestertnight, Government forces had to call off the search operation in the locality after nothing was found in the area late night on Saturday. The Search Operation was going on when this report was filed.

Ct. Tanveer Ahmad Malik has been laid to rest at his native graveyard at Kharpora-Chitergul of Anantnag District who died due to attack by gun men at Gailender-Pampore of Pulwama District. In this incident two cops also got injured who belong also to the Shangas Tehsil. The slain cop is survived by father, mother, elder sister & elder brother. Ground Report- Shopian-Badrihama road in Shambles, Authorities in slumber

June 23 Jahangeer Ganie   The residents of Nagbal,Digam and Badrihama are up in arms against the authorities for neglecting the road stretch which connects these villages with district headquarter of Shopian. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that this road link was damaged in 2014 floods since then the road goes besides the Rambiara rivulet and till date the road was not repaired due to which locals are facing difficulties. Aijaz Ahmed a local resident said that the transporters are refusing to ply on the road as it has turned bumpy and developed potholes. Clashes Erupt Near Encounter Site in Shopian, 1 Critical

June 23 (Image Used for Representation) Jahangeer Ganie Intense clashes between protesters and government forces erupted near gunfight site in Damodar area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district where a gunfight between militants and forces is underway. Gunfight is on as two to three Militants are believed to be trapped in the area, official sources told The Kashmiriyat. Hundreds of protesters assembled and pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shelling and pellet firing at near the encounter site. Announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out and help the trapped Militants escape, a local told The Kashmiriyat. Earlier a youth identified as Jahangeer was injured after being hit with a bullet.

The Operation has been launched after an input was received about Militant Movement in the area, Officials told The Kashmiriyat. 44 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, The Jammu Kashmir Police are jointly conducting a search operation in the area since 3 pm in the day. Entry and exit points to the area have been sealed as a door to door search operation has begun, Sources told The Kashmiriyat. Meanwhile clashes have also been reported from the area.

Families Might Soon Loose Rights to The Bodies of Their Militant Sons

June 23 (Image used for Representation) News Desk Families of Militants may soon loose the rights to the last rites of their kith and kin as the Government of India has been urged not to return the bodies of militants killed in encounters with Government Forces. In a report published in The Indian Express, it was stated that the Jammu Kashmir Police and the Indian Army is of the opinion that handing over the dead bodies of slain Militants to their families flares up emotions of public in the area and leads to an atmosphere that is conducive for more youths picking up the gun, as stated in a recent study.
