CASO Launched in Islamabad Area

July 25 A Cordon and Search Operation has been launched in Sheikhpora of Veer area in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) district on Wednesday evening. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched the anti Militancy operation after receiving an input about Militant movement in the area. 581 Militants Killed Since 2015

July 25 The Government forces have killed 581 militants since 2015 while 69 personnel died in ceasefire violations along the LoC and the India-Pakistan border in Jammu Kashmir, Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre told the Lok Sabha today. In 2015, 108 militants were killed by security forces followed by 150 in 2016, 213 in 2017 and 110 in 2018 (up to July 22) along the Line of Control (LoC), Bhamre said in a written response to a question in the Lower House. July 25 Intense clashes erupted in many areas of Islamabad township of South Kashmir on Wednesday after restrictions were lifted across the township. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that hundreds of youth hit the streets after restrictions were lifted post the encounter that had erupted in the township early morning on Wednesday. Clashes began at Janglat Mandi, Kadipora, Ganjiwara, Dialgam and many areas as youth hit the streets throwing stones on Government Forces. 2,000 additional seats allotted to JK for Hajj 2018

July 25 Jammu Kashmir has been allotted 2,000 additional seats for Haj this year as a “special quota” in line with the new formula of allocation of surplus seats generated by under-utilized quota of states, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told the Lok Sabha today. In a reply to a written question, he said with the addition of 2,000 seats, a total of 10,062 seats have been allocated to Jammu Kashmir for Haj 2018. A total of 7,960 seats were allotted to the state for Haj 2017. 2 Kupwara Youth Planning to Join Militants Reunited with their Families

July 25 The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have reunited two youth from north Kashmir’s Kupwara with their homes. The youth as per Police were planning to join militancy. The Police in a statement issued to the press said the youth were brought back from Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. According to reports, the youth had gone missing two days ago. However, the parents of the youth did not lodge any missing report. "Our reliable sources suggest that the duo had intentions of joining militant ranks,”a Police official said. “After proper counselling both the youth were handed over to their parents,” he said.

At least 28 Killed in Blast near Polling Booth in Pakistan

July 25 At least 31 people were killed, including 28 in a suicide blast outside a polling station in Pakistan's Quetta city and 36 others injured as several incidents of violence were reported as the country went to polls. In Pakistan's restive Balochistan province, a suicide blast targeting a police van killed at least 28 people, including five policemen, and nearly 30 other were injured in a blast near Quetta's Eastern Bypass, The Express Tribune reported. Quetta is the provincial capital of Balochistan province. The blast took place near Quetta's Eastern Bypass when the police van was targeted in the attack. The attack was part of a larger pattern of attacks targeting security forces vehicles and not targeting the electoral process, the report said.

July 25 Two members of the house, Abid and Tariq Khan sons of Nazir Ahmed Khan, the owner of the house where an encounter raged in Islamabad township have been taken into detention. Family Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Tariq, who is a driver by profession has been arrested allegedly from the township just now. Abid who is a shopkeeper has also been taken into detention along with his father, Nazir Ahmed Khan who has served more than 15 years in prison.
