Forces Thrash the father of Police Officer in Tral

August 30 The Father of a sub inspector of Jammu Kashmir Police was allegedly assaulted by government forces in Tral area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a person namely Bashir Ahmad Bhat, who is the father of Sub Inspector Jammu Kashmir Police Tahir Bashir Bhat Of Tral was beaten up by Government forces at Nazneenpora Hayuna village of Tral. As per his family members, Bashir has got fracture in his arm and has been shifted for hospital for treatment. "He was beaten without any provocation, so immediate and stern action must be taken against the involved personnel," they demanded. Hundreds Visit Families of Slain Militants Despite Restrictions

August 30 The Kulgam District in South Kashmir is mourning the death of the oldest Militant commander, Altaf Ahmed Dar and his colleague, Umar Rashid Wani who were killed in a gunfight on Wednesday. Massive CASO Underway in Keller area of Shopian

August 30 A Cordon and Search Operation has been launched in the Khan Mohallah of Keller in South Kashmir's Shopian District on Thursday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that Government Forces including 44 RR of Indian Army and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a joint Anti Militancy operation in the area following specific input about Militant presence in the Khan Mohallah area. Locals said that a heavy contingent of Forces have reached the area and are conducting a search operation in the area. The search operation was going on when this report was filed.

2 Militants Killed in Hajin- Operation On

August 30 Two Militants have been killed in the ongoing gunfight in the Parray Mohallah of Hajin in North Kashmir's Bandipora District that began in the wee hours of Thursday morning. Official sources said that the gunfight began after security forces launched a cordon and search operation against unidentified Militants after getting specific information. The Search operation is still on as per reports. Details are awaited.

Father of Riyaz Naikoo, Son of Syed Salahuddin Arrested

August 30 The Jammu Kashmir Police in a nocturnal raid arrested the father of Hizb ul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo in south Kashmir’s Awantipora area. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that forces raided the house of Riyaz Naikoo at Beighpora Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and arrested Assadullah Naikoo, the father of Riyaz during last night. A Police official told that he has been arrested for questioning. Meanwhile the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the son of Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin during a night raid at his residence in Rambagh area of Srinagar.
