Coke Studio Pakistan Brings to Life Poetry of Iqbal

August 13 The first episode of the Coke Studio Pakistan is out and it features Natasha Baig with the famous, Qawwals Fareed Ayaz and Abu Mohammad and brothers, performing the famous poet, Allama Iqbal's- 'Shikwa/Jawab-e-Shikwa'. According to Coke Studio, this "unique rendition explores the genre of rock and the signature sound of qawwali in [a] one of a kind track." Umar Khalid Shot at in Delhi at a High Security Zone

August 13 An unidentified man reportedly opened fire at Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) student leader Umar Khalid outside Constitution Club of India on Rafi Marg in the national capital on Monday, police said. Khalid escaped unhurt. The student had arrived at the club to attend an event titled “Khauff Se Azaadi” organised by an organisation named “United Against Hate”. An eyewitness told news agency ANI, “There was an event and Umar Khalid had accompanied us. We were at a tea stall when a man in a white shirt came, pushed and opened fire at him. August 13 Suhail Dar One person is feared dead while eight others were injured after a passenger vehicle, Sumo met with an accident in Hatigam locality of Sirigufwara area in South Kashmir's Islamabad (anantnag) on Monday. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a sumo rolled down into a rivulet in Hatigam resulting in death to one person and injuries to eight others. Tral Shuts Against Arrests

August 13 At least ten people including the family members of Militants Hammad Khan and Adfar Adil have been detained in Tral belt of South Kashmir's Pulwama District for the past four days. People in large numbers amid a complete shutdown demanded the release of youth who have been arrested during raids in the Tral belt. A Police official confirmed the arrests and said that the youth have been detained for questioning. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the youth have been detained in connection with the kidnapping and attacks on SPOs in the Tral area.

One Youth Arrested During Nocturnal Raid in South Kashmir Area

August 13 The Government forces raided the Ghat Redwani Locality in Khudwani area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district and arrested a youth during the intervening night of Sunday and Saturday. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that one person has been arrested in the Khudwani locality when forces raided the Ghat Village around 1230 in the night. They identified the youth as Aadil Ahmed Lon son of Muzaffar Ahmed Lone and said the Forces including Jammu Kashmir Police barged inside the house of the youth and took him into detention.
