Cleanliness Drive Launched in Kulgam District

KULGAM
August 10 The Block Development Officer Pahloo Kulgam, Javid Ahmad Sheikh on Friday initiated the 'Road and Public places cleaning drive'. The drive was started at Arigutnoo Block of Kulgam District in South Kashmir and during the day long exercise, Cow dung and other wastes along Road sides were removed  using bulldozers and Tractors. The inhabitants of the area provided full cooperation in this endeavor and also resolved to keep their surroundings clean henceforth. The local people have thanked the Rural Development Department for initiating this action and have expected that such exercises be continued in future as well.

9 SPOs from South Kashmir Announce that they have Quit Police Job

August 10 Nine special Police officers( SPOs) have made announcements in two Masjids of Tral division of South Kashmir's Pulwama District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the head preacher of a local mosque in Pastuna and Larow areas of Tral had received letters from nine SPOs saying that they had quit jobs. At Pastuna, the letters were received from SPOs identified in the letter as Parvaiz Ahmed Ahanger, Hilal Ahmed Khan, Muzaffar Ahmed Khan, Mudasir Ahmed Mir, Irshad Ahmed rather and Ishrat Allie. The preacher of the mosque read the letter in which the SPOs had announced their voluntary retirement from the Police job seeking apology from the public. DC Islamabad Stops Illegal Construction on River Side

August 10 The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad (Anantnag) District in South Kashmir has stopped ilegal Contructions on the Arpat (Jhelum tributary) riverside. In an appreciable move, the Deputy commissioner himself directed the officials to stop the illegal construction work going on the Newly constructed bypass which runs parallel to the lone river of the South Kashmir town. A building was being constructed just few meters away from the river side. Three Injured in Bear Attack at Qazigund

ISLAMABAD
August 10 Sheikh Nadeem/ Waris Shah Three persons were injured when a bear attacked them on Friday at Manzmoh area of Qazigund in South Kashmir's Islamabad (Anantnag) District. Locals told The Kashmiriyat that a wild bear entered into a residential area and attacked people who were working in the fields. In the attack three persons identified as Mukhtar Ahmed son of Dawood Ahmed Chichi, Gulab Noori wife of Said Wali Jinjoo and another villager from manzmoh were injured. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the three were rushed to a nearby hospital where they being treated. A report published in 2013 stated that, In last 10 years, 200 people got killed and more than 500 got injured in human animal conflict in different parts of the Kashmir Valley.

August 10 A Protester has been critically wounder by Government Forces when they opened fire upon Protesting civilians during a Cordon and Search operation in Tukroo area of South Kashmir's Shopian District. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that a protester identified as Fayaz Ahmed of Poterwal locality in Keegam area of Shopian District was shot at when forces opened fire on protesters who were protesting against an Anti Militancy operation in their area. Kashmir University Announces Summer vacation

August 10 The Kashmir University has on Friday announced Summer vacation for the main campus and Satellite Campuses in the province via a circular on the University official website. As per the circular, the summer vacations would commence from 16 August and end on the 25th of August. The circular further read that the Entrance of P.G will be held as per schedule.

Weapon Snatching Bid Foiled in Pampore

August 10 Unknown persons on Friday entered into the branch of Jammu Kashmir bank located at Khrew area in Pampore belt of Pulwama District trying to snatch the rifle of the bank guard. Sources told The Kashmiriyat that bank guard deployed near the gate foiled the attempt by fighting of the persons who tried to snatch the weapon. The attackers later fled from the spot after which the Police reached the spot and launched a Search operation to nab the attackers. Reports said that the attackers tried to pour chili powder on the eyes of the bank guard but he averted a rifle snatching by being vigil, Sources said.  

Massive CASO Launched in Shopian Area

August 10 A Cordon and Search Operation has been launched in Tukroo area of South Kashmir's Shopian District on Friday noon. Government Forces including RR of Indian Army and launched a joint Anti Militancy operation in the area following specific input about Militant presence in the area. Locals said that a heavy contingent of Forces have reached the area and are conducting a search operation in the area. The search operation was going on when this report was filed.

Rafiabad Encounter- Weapons, Five Bodies Recovered- Laid to Rest in a Village

August 10 Shabir Khan Acting on a Speicifc input about militant movement, the Government Forces On 08 August at about 11:30 hrs  sneaked in to the upper  reaches of Rafiabad forest in North Kashmir. The 32 RR  and 9 PARA and Jammu Kahsmir Police jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the  suspected area near Dooniwari  forests and during search operation  a group of Militants was intercepted.
