Lashkar Commander- Umar Malik Likely Killed in Shopian Gunfight

August 03 Umar Nazir Malik, the district commander of Lashkar e Taiba has been reportedly killed in a gunfight that raged late night in Kiloora area of Shopian District in South Kashmir. Umar had joined Lashkar e Taiba in 2017 and had been allegedly involved in many Militant activities. He was killed in a gun battle that raged when Government Forces cordoned off the Kiloora area in Shopian following a specific input about Militant movement in the area. After a brief exchange of gunfire, Umar was hit with a bullet and killed. The troops including 44 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF are now jointly conducting search operations in the area.

August 03 Mobile Internet Services have been snapped in the Shopian District of South Kashmir following an encounter that raged in Kiloora area of the same district. Telecom officials told The Kashmiriyat that they have received orders to snap internet services in the district as a preventive measure. Meanwhile reports suggest that a local Militant Umer Malik of Malikgund Shopian has been killed in the gunfight.

Forces Assault Youth in Tral

August 03 A Youth has been allegedly assaulted by Government Forces in the intervening night on Thursday and Friday after taking him into detention. Locals identified the young man as Mushtaq Ahmad Mir Son Of Ghulam Rasool Mir, Resident Of Lorgam Tral. They told The Kashmiriyat that he was beaten by forces’ for more than 3 Hours in Lorgam Tral village at around 03:00 pm, due to which his right arm is fractured and he is not able to move or sit. Early morning the forces arrested him and thrashed him ruthlessly after which he was thrown on road because he was unable to walk or even stand.
